Nelson County Barn Quilt Ornament to Hang on Capital Tree
The ND Council on the Arts invited artists and crafts people across the state to provide a handmade ornament for the ND State Christmas Tree. This years motif is wooden ornaments. The Nelson County Barn Quilters decided to accept this challenge and have recently sent an ornament to the capital.
The barn quilt ornament was made by Mayor Ed Pawlikowski of Lakota, ND. Ed printed out decals of our trails original 14 barn quilts and positioned them and our logo banner onto a tree trunk plaque. Information about our trail is included on the back side of the plaque. Sherrie Kjorsvik of Michigan made the perfect bow to adorn the ornament. The Nelson County Barn Quilt Committee would like to thank both Ed and Sherrie for all their help with this project. Our group hopes that this ornament will help spread the word about our quilt trail to all at the state capital and others who view the tree.
Governor Jack and First Lady Betsy Dalrymple will participate in a lighting of the tree ceremony. The tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 at the state capital in Bismarck, ND.
